Just a Fruitcake

Sometimes I think this is how I feel.
Especially after visiting with my in-laws.
If I ever have the desire to feel unwanted,
Unliked, or miserable, I just think about going there.
I could really go into it, but I don't want to hurt DH.
Just remember this "fruitcake" this week!!

It's All Over

Finally it's all over.  Christmas.  I love to see it come but sometimes I love to see it go more.
Unfortunately that is how this years Christmas has ended.  Me loving it leaving.
The presents, candy, and food messes are gone.
The access amount of accumulated stuff has been aquired, more stuff to find room for and more weight put on I am possitive of.
The tree is still up here.  I usually leave it up until New Years day.  I am ready to take it down.
I will postpone doing that until the first.  I remember as a kid when we did go to my Dad's for Christmas on Christmas day, Mom had the tree down by the time we got home.  It always made me so sad.
I guess since the visit was usually so disappointing, and then to come home and see everything gone.
Here are some pics from Christmas.
It looks like Jesse had the best time of all!

DH's Grandma in her hat, scarf, & gloves for Church we got her

This is a "Tobacco Christmas Tree" for some reason they became popular here this yr.

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas

Your Christmas Card

Merry Christmas Everyone!!

Tuesday's Two

When my nephew Hunter was here last weekend I let him open his stuff from us since I wasn't sure if he would be back before Christmas.  We were going to our Christmas Parties that day so I went over early and had Christmas with him.
I said, "Hunt, do you know who Aunt Ree's father in law is?"
He says, "Yup".
I said, "You do?  Who is he?"
"I dunno"
"Well I will tell you.  Uncle Dave's Dad is Santa."
He looks up at me with these big eyes, so I ask him, "Would you like me to put in a good word or tell him what you want for Christmas?"
He was delighted of course.  Then just for giggles I said, "Hunter, do you realize what that means since Dave's Dad is Santa?"
Shaking his head no, I proceed.  "That means one day, Uncle Dave and Aunt Ree will be Mr & Mrs Claus"
By now I'm guessing you are thinking I am one mean Auntie, but nothing I told him wasn't too far from the truth, other than DH and I will not likely be the Clauses, lol.
Here is my FIL on his best behavior.  I think he likes the pretty ones!!
That's ok, so does Hunter.

Below you will see the "WWofI" is trying to pull off being "the Mrs."

Now, who wants to tell me what they want for Christmas?

Christmas Dinner #1

A couple years ago my BFF and I decided trying to buy Christmas presents for one another and our spouses became a lot of extra work during Christmas.  We'd rather just have the couple hours together
so now we meet and have "Christmas Dinner" together.  The only thing we buy now is dinner.
Time has gotten away, we usually try to do it early December so that we can do a little shopping too.
This year we decided to go somewhere less crowded and down home.
Check it out, it's just a 30 min drive from here......

If you want, I'll bring ya a piece of pie!!!

Last night I went to Wally World to pick up candy stuff. I noticed quickly the sadness and aggrivation on many faces.  I was saddened for them.  Quickly my mind had taken me back to Christmas past in my mind.
My heart reached out to them understanding some of their grief during this season.
I've had Christmases of just my Momma & me and my Dad no where to be seen.
Christmases so full of fun where all us grandkids got together at Nan's to put up the tree, string popcorn and make  homemade cookies.
Christmases of excitement from a new Dad and a Christmas with a new baby brother.
Christmases as a confused teen about life and why my biological Dad was never there during Christmas (or any other time growing up).
I've had a Christmas where I was married just days before and we had nothing but love to live on.
I spent Christmases alone and lonely.  Wondering if I would ever truly be loved by another.
Christmases where the loss of a close loved one so dear, so fresh I wondered if my family would survive it.
Christmases of a new love, a new life and of a new home.
A Christmas of learning how to come back Home.
Empty Christmases with no baby to love and share it with in our home.
As my mind swirled with these memories my heart broke, smiled and cried at these thoughts.
My heart and my prayers opened to these people and I found myself walking around walmart praying for these people silently as they passed by.
Lord, please be with them whatever their circumstance or needs.  You knew them all before I even asked and I believe on you to help them through this Christmas.  Bless them this Christmas and let me or your other children in some way remind them of you and the hope and love you give.
This morning I woke to a winter wonderland.  It's so beautiful and fresh.
I started the preparing of our Christmas Breakfast Brunch with just my folks and brothers.
I feel blessed and happy this morning for this Christmas to be here.
More than not we get so wrapped up in buying/giving/receiving gifts, fixing candy, preparing food, company, decorating, etc that we have lost the whole meaning of Christmas.  While it is a great celebration we so often get lost and forget the true reason of Christmas.  As much as I love my family and being with them, that is not the true meaning or rememberance of it.  Christ is all of it.  To remember Him, to praise Him, to reverance Him, to be thankful to Him.

These are my thoughts for this beautiful Saturday morning.  I guess this blanket covering the ground of pure white snow reminds me of how He covers us in many aspects.

Thank You Lord for that miraculous day You came upon this earth as a baby wrapped in swaddling cloth and laid in a manager so meek and humble unlike the true King that you are.

God Bless You All,

Fun Friday

Thankful Thursday

I'm still trying to get over this garb that I have.  I received notice it has decided to become a perminent resident in my chest.  I received the address change today from my head to my chest.  YAY!!
Tomorrow is Christmas parties at work for our departments.  Fortunately our boss is taking us to Cheddars for an extended lunch.  Dave and them are having a snack day.  Luckily he is only required to bring rolls.  The girls had mercy on me.

Today I am Thankful for so much.  I do not even know where to begin.
I'm thankful it's going to snow this weekend on into next week.  I am hoping for a White Christmas.
I'm so glad all my family will be here for Christmas
I'm thankful for a warm house and some hot soup for my tummy.
I'm thankful I AM going to be well by the weekend so I will not be sick while off!!!

But most of all I am Thankful for a Savior who was willing to come one night, and be humble enough to lay in a manager unlike the King He was.  That He grew up to give His life for me.

What are you Thankful for this Christmas Season?

Tuesday's Tasty Treat (Homemade Thin Mints)

Today's Tasty Treat I'm leaving with you is a homemade version of a girl scout thin mint cookie, yum!!
It's one of my favorite Christmas Treats to fix.

What You'll Need:
1 pkg of almond bark chocolate flavor or chocolate chips, melted
(I personally like the almond bark because it's supper easy to melt)
1 bottle of peppermint oil
2 sleeves of Ritz Crackers
Wax paper, spoon, & fork

Melt chocolate, then adding 1 to 2 drops of peppermint oil.  I do it to my personal taste.
Usually 2 drops is enough for a batch.  Mix well.
Then I roll the ritz cracker slowly not to break them in the chocolate.
Lifting the cracker out of the chocolate with the fork so that the chocolate can drip off a little.
Placing the cracker on the wax paper to cool and set up.

Makes approximately 2 sleeves of crackers.
Believe it or not these are REALLY good, and reallly simple to make.

Just an update, I went to the doctor yesterday.  She says I will live, lol.  I have a horrible sinus infection trying to move into my lungs, so I'm suppose to take it easy rest, rest, rest, drink plenty of fluids, and take my meds she says.  My post will probably be short and sweet this week.
Hope you all are having fun getting prepared for Christmas.  In the midst of it all, please don't forget the
Reason For the Season, Jesus.

Things to Remember At Christmas

A friend sent this to me and I wanted to share it with all of you.

I know it's early but I want to be the 1st..

With 3 weeks before Christmas REMEMBER:

Jesus is Better than Santa

Santa lives at the North Pole.

JESUS is everywhere.

Santa rides in a sleigh

JESUS rides on the wind and walks on the water.

Santa comes but once a year

JESUS is an ever present help.

Santa fills your stockings with goodies

JESUS supplies all your needs.

Santa comes down your chimney uninvited

JESUS stands at your door and knocks.. And then enters your heart.

You have to stand in line to see Santa

JESUS is as close as the mention of His name.

Santa lets you sit on his lap

JESUS lets you rest in His arms.

Santa doesn't know your name, all he can say is "Hi little boy or girl, What's your name?"

JESUS knew our name before we did.. Not only does He know our name, He knows our address too. He knows our history and future and He even knows how many hairs are on our heads.

Santa has a belly like a bowl full of jelly

JESUS has a heart full of love.

All Santa can offer is HO HO HO

JESUS offers health, help and hope.

Santa says "You better not cry"

JESUS says "Cast all your cares on me for I care for you.

Santa's little helpers make toys

JESUS makes new life, mends wounded hearts, repairs broken homes and builds mansions.

Santa may make you chuckle but

JESUS gives you joy that is your strength.

While Santa puts gifts under your tree

JESUS became our gift and died on the tree.

It's obvious there is really no comparison.

We need to remember WHO Christmas is all about.

We need to put Christ back in Christmas.

Jesus is still the reason for the season.
May the Lord Bless and Watch over you and your loved ones this Christmas 2009

And may He prosper and bless the work of your hands in the New Year.

Sick Sick Sick Sick

I'm still here.  Barely.
I have a horrible sinus infection.  (I hope)
My ears hurt, my head hurts, my throat hurts, my chest hurts
actually I think I hurt all over this morning.
I can't focus, I can't read, and I can't type, lol.

Will return the home front soonnnnnnnn!!!!!

Fabulous Fun Friday

My Artistic Talent

Let me just say my artistic talent doesn't run too deep but is very creative.
Our poor friend Chris

from work turned 40 today.
He is a great guy all around and can take a good joke.
I think he was "confused" by the time he arrived at work.
He mentioned people had been "honking" at him all the way to work
(a 30min commute) and he didn't know why.  When he got in the parking lot
he stopped and looked the company car over, there he found a neon green note on the back reading:
I'M 40 TODAY!!!"
***looking around innocently***
Seriously I'm not completely sure on how that got there.
I decided to try my "artistic talent" out on him for his birthday by
let's say "redecorating" his office as so

with several weeks worth of papers and one HUGE black garbage bag full of shredded paper
my "redecorating come to an end.  I just don't think it's my thing, do you?
I don't think he was too crazy about the new  pictures I hung.
They were life size and then some of himself.
One was in his office window at the front of our building
the other at the employee entrance.  I just wanted EVERYONE to have a chance at wishing him
My "Artistic Talent" was soooo popular that we had tons of Paparazzi.
This is a picture of him trying to get out of the building today

Hopefully the homemade biscuits with gravy and red velvet cake made up for my errors.

True Redneck Christmas!!

Now, I have seen my share of redneck examples.

Some stupid... some funny.

But this one... ok... I have to admit it.

This Person is One True

I'm Sorry

Yes, I have to say, "I'm Sorry".  I was doing so well posting everyday and well I got busy, imagine that.
I was telling DH on the way home today from work (yes, we worked today, Saturday finishing up inventory at work) that I hadn't blogged in over a week.  He didn't believe me.  I told him the only time I actually had time to was Monday and Tuesday, we actually got home before 6:30 but I spent my evenings with him since I knew we would be tied up with physical inventory at work the rest of the week. (And I had basically left him on his own since last Wednesday with Thanksgiving/Shopping/Poppy & WWI).
Thanksgiving well, how do you learn to enjoy it when you do so much preperation and cooking???
The in-laws I was blessed with only 1 true day with them.  They left at 3 that day.  They were not happy that I didn't stay home Friday to entertain them I guess.  DH said his Dad mentioned Betty thought I was mad.
Whatever.  I wasn't.  I just didn't want to be  here, lol.  This coming from a lady who the last winter when we were up there left me at a Kohl's for 3hrs.  (long story).  Anyways, oh yeah, inventory.  We are finished.  I think.  Hopefully I will be back to my normal bloggy self.
I got a great deal on a tree at Kohl's,  (did I mention it's one of my favorite places?) it was a $199 tree that was on one of those "special hours" sales for 67.99 which in it's self was a great deal, but I had a 15% off card AND $10 Kohl's cash from my last purchase.  My tree was under $50 and is a pre-lit!!
It's even up.  Not decorated, but up.  It's a start.
We had snow this morning and I was HAPPY!!! HAPPY!!! HAPPY!!!
It is 26 here now and my toes are ice cubes, but I'm still happy.

Ok, now I am halfway caught up on some of my "blog reading" and I am gonna go lay on the couch with a big cup of hot cocoa and watch "White Christmas".

Oh yeah, what is the deal with Tiger Woods??  I'm just curious how stupid he REALLY is.
