Sledding & Things

On the way home this evening I looked over and there in the dark were some kids sledding down their hill.
It quickly took me back many many years ago when there was only Momma, Me & Josh.
I can remember how excited we were before bed and the thought of a big snow.
Barely able to sleep, but Momma still making us go in case of school.
Then late that night I remember Momma waking us up to see how much it had snowed.
She said, get dressed and get your jackets on.
She went and got our sled and let us play in the snow, and go sledding in the dark!!
It was so much fun.  It is one of my favorite memories of being little.
We did that several times growing up.
The first year DH and I were dating, he was down for a visit.
We got a big snow, and about 11 Momma called, asking if we wanted Dad to come get us to go sledding.
I think DH thought we were crazy.
He had a blast of course.
Thank You Momma for the best memories ever!!

Today being "Thankful Thursday" I am "Thankful" for
the snow falling, giving that warm fuzzy feeling
a doggie who loves to see me come in the door, and tonight couldn't wait to get in the snow
the sight of children playing in the snow with their parents
a hubby willing to drive me in this mess!
Peppermint Hot Chocolate! Mmmmmm

A Special Rainy Day

Once upon a time there was this fearless 17yr old girl. Girlie was in love with Boy. Boy loved Girlie more than anything at time and wanted to spend as much time with the Girlie as possible. So much so he was willing to go on camping trips with Girlie and Girlie's parents. (don't ya just love this Boy so far?)

So Girlie and Boy are on camping trip in the fall. It's a cool day on the lake and they are walking and talking. What happens? It starts raining! Boy gives Girlie his red sweatshirt hoodie so she doesn't get wet or cold. Girlie and Boy have to walk back to camp. Of course they didn't care because they were together. Boy pulls Girlie close to keep her warm and sings, "Hey there little red riding hood...." to her. And they laugh and kiss all the way back to camp.

Young love in its self is wonderful but usually for a season.
The memories you carry forever.

Today on this drizzly raining day, I closed my eyes, and I was that "Girlie" again.
Thank You Lord for that memory of a rainy day 15yrs ago and "thank you" to the Boy who gave me that memory to keep.

The Song Remembers When

This my last Friday off.
I was taking complete advantage of it by finishing a book, then catching up with the blogs I follow. I had some music playing in the background. I love music. All kinds.

Anyways, as I am reading I hear this Kenny Chesney song, "You Win, I Win, We Lose".
I thought back to almost 11 years ago to a guy I use to see, his name was Mike. Unfortunately because of the situation that song reminded me of him then. Now when I hear it, I still think of him.

Funny how music can do that for you. You can hear a song and it takes you back to another place, another person, and another time that is so dim in your mind you think you have forgotten it, then you hear a song, and "the song remembers when".

So today, on my last Friday off, I have decided to take a trip down "memory lane" with some people and "adjust" my music to suit. It ranges from family to friends, to old beaux.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!
