Decorative No No's!!

As I am here at work this Saturday morning, I started doing some cleaning around my area. I thought I would share with you how bad it is. I work for a great place, and the people here are great! (Ok, well most days I feel that way) There is one exception.....The company it's self is almost 100yrs old. A great family owned place. They built the building we are in somewhere around 1981 or 82 I believe. I am guessing men did the decor, check out the "wall hangings" at my desk.

Now tell me, does it get much worse than this??? I have begged, pleaded, tried to GIVE them away with no avail. **sigh*** The CEO and a former President of the company caught these two delightful catches. I'm guessing their wives said "No Way!" to having them hung in their house, so I was the lucky one. I have even done not so nice things to the fishies. I decorate them like "Christmas Fish" at Christmas time (tree decor, santa hat anything atrocious I can actually think of). The girls dress them like "Birthday Fish" on my birthday (hats, streamers, balloons)
Hoping someone will have mercy on me and take them out.

Tell me what you think of my "fish" or any suggestions on how to make them disappear!!

Is this my life??

I'm in my car driving home tonight. I am looking at all the snow, ice and fallen trees. It's a beautiful sight. With a 60mile car ride one way, it gives me way too much time to think sometimes. So here is today's rambling for ya.

I grew up in this small town in East KY. Born and raised. We did have family vacations so I had the opportunity to see alot of the US. Unlike a lot of people of this area, who think that Lexington is another country. (Please don't think bad of me, it's true, and I'm not doing this to be mean, please read on and you will see)

So, I start my life as an adult too early, marrying at the young age of 18yrs, and still in high school. No, I wasn't "in the way" as some probably suspected, but thought I was "in love". Before my 21st birthday I was divorced.

2yrs later I met my Hubby, and 2yrs after that we were married. Now he then is what I thought was a "big" city. Being from Bloomington IN. (Ok, so I was wrong, but it was like 10times bigger than my town) So I moved there and married him. I soon moved "up" in the world and was able to obtain my "dream job" being a pharmaceutical rep. I was moved to Kansas City MO where I was able to live in a "BIG" city.

Let me just say, I LOVED KC!!! Everything about it, except the traffic jams when we lived close to the stadiums. I loved being able to get something to eat 24/7. To catch a movie anytime of the day, and see anything I would want to see. There was always something to do, some place to go. (If you ever need a list of "things to do while in Kansas City" please let me know I can hook ya up. We also made some wonderful, wonderful friends there who we think of as family.
After my uncle passed away here, and Nannie became sick, Hubby's Grandma's health started to decline, we decided we needed to be closer. So we loaded up the truck and we moved to Ole Ky. At the time it felt as though I was moving to where the Beverly Hillbillies came from. I felt devastated to give all that up. An awesome job, a beautiful home, freedom to do things, etc.

Then tonight driving home I realized, I am happy. I am happy here and love my normal, boring, simple life. Oh there is always drama, between work, and my brother (that is for another day). I love being right where I am. I love the beauty of the area. I love that people aren't interested in "keeping up with the Jones'" well there are some, but not like big areas. People here are loving and kind. They are often times like family, I can talk about you, but don't let an outsider, lol.
I think it is awesome that I have friends who I have known since grade school. I'm not talking about "acquaintances", I'm talking about friends who even if you go days, weeks, or months without talking, if you call them or they hear you need something, they are always there.

I am blessed to have watched my baby brother finish school, his proms, and now watch him become an outstanding young man in college. I have been able to spend time with Nannie I would not give all the money in the world for. I get all four seasons in the mnts here.

Tonight on the way home, as I was looking around I realized how much I love this area, and it's people. I know if you are from the "city" life you don't understand. People are different here. It reminds me of Mayberry sometimes. They roll up the streets when the sun goes down. It is an area where they still show respect and support to the community. To one another. It makes me feel something I don't even know how to express.

Both worlds fit me, but I love this one more. It made me think of the movie "Sweet Home Alabama". If you have not seen it, get it. It's hilarious, but it does remind me of my life.

Ok, that's my ramble for today!!

P.S. If it's illegal to post this pic of sweet home, I'm sorry. lol

Watch Out For Those Salt Trucks

So we had a little ice yesterday morning that prevented travel to work. Last night after all the rain/sleet, the road looked wet so I thought I would give it a whirl. I at least waited til day light. Yesterday they didn't even clean our road until 4:30pm. Anyways, I attempted it. I got about 10 miles down the road, in a blind curve, and what happens?? A salt truck almost runs the guy in the other lane over, he swerves at me, I swerve to miss him, lol. Fun fun in the ditch we come!!! Was it really the salt trucks fault? I mean he was flying on an icy road. But did the guy have to swerve at me?? Well at least the salt truck guy was nice enough to pull us both out of the ditch. That saved me minimum $50 for a tow out, and cost a days pay. I guess in the broad spectrum of things, it worked out. Now for another boring day at home. I can't sit still long enough to get into a good book, house is clean since Hubby is on a work trip. (He called at 7, they have 10inches plus of the good white stuff and it's still coming down there). It amazes me how much cleaner the house stays, and laundry done up while he's gone. I guess I should quit thinking of being bored, and as a vacation. No hubby, so no required cooking, cleaning, or laundry. The bed ALL to myself, I can watch what I want, read as long as I want, take a long bubble bath. Yet I am lonely here alone. I guess he is worth all the other stuff!!

Well I hope wherever you are you have electric and are staying warm with the ones you love!!

Jesse and I went outside and cleaned the car off. After almost 45minutes it finally thawed out. Jesse wasn't sure what to think of the ice. It had been mixed with snow, so it looked like snow, but felt like ice. Dogs are so funny. Two trips around, and still unable to make it up the hill. Here is a pic of me and Jess this am. It looks like we are going to take another pounding this evening. I don't know if I should be thrilled or devistated.

I kidnapped the bride to be this past Saturday. She was so stressed out it was unreal. She didn't know what to think when I woke her up and told her to get ready. We just had a very girly day, and relaxed. No talk of weddings, showers, or grooms to be. It was great for both of us.

Walking in a Winter of ICE

There might be multiple post. I haven't had time to post like I wanted. Between "kidnapping" people, work, and all those every day fun things we have in life, it has been impossible. I woke up to almost 2inches of snow and ice, 95 percent being ice. Yeah!! I just didn't think it would be safe to drive 60miles one way to work, and another front moving in. It's my favorite time of the day here. I can have a cup of steaming coffee from my favorite coffee maker. The joy starts when I grind my beans and can smell the coffee, mmmmmmm..........hubby is off on a business trip this week, so it is me and Jesse. He doesn't make much noise, he's even quiet when he needs to go out and do his thing, lol.

Today I woke up feeling extremely blessed. I feel blessed everyday, but sometimes it's just extra sweet. I don't know if you know what that is like or not. If not, you are missing out on the greatest life ever. God is so good!

Ok, I gotta get some of this coffee..........I will post more later!!

Countdown, Day 111

Ok, so I have been away for a few days. With good excuses of course. See my good friend is getting married. It's a BIG deal. She has waited 33 yrs for this. The girls and I want to make it REALLY SPECIAL for her. I was unprepared for all the drama at hand. **sigh*** Why can't people just "go with the flow" so to say?? I mean really, isn't it the "brides" day?? We are in countdown, day 111 here. Trying to put together a wedding that will be right outside of Mobile, AL when you are in Podunk, KY and know no one pretty much other than the grooms family, well let's just say things are difficult. Luckily for me, I am just a "servant" willing to help do whatever. Not having to make final decisions. I keep wanting to say, "Just ELOPE!!!".

Being married twice myself isn't necessarily something I am proud of, but having a big white wedding the first time, and eloping the second, well...........I would recommend eloping to anyone. My experience was I didn't like him, his family, our friends, or my family by the time we were to get married the first time, lol. But the "White Wedding" is every girls fantasy isn't it??

Well enough of that before I really get on my soap box. Check out the "Mr & Mrs" to be, that is the pic posted.

I have also enclosed another idiot from 2008. Hope you all have a great weekend, and don't freeze to death. It's 0 degrees here in the Foothills this morning, burrrrrr.....

Number Four Idiot of 2008

A guy walked into a little corner store with a shotgun and demanded all of the cash from the cash drawer. After the cashier put the cash in a bag, the robber saw a bottle of Scotch that he wanted behind the counter on the shelf. He told the cashier to put it in the bag as well, but the cashier refused and said, 'Because I don't believe you are over 21.' The robber said he was, but the clerk still refused to give it to him because she didn't believe him.. At this point, the robber took his driver's license out of his wallet and gave it to the clerk.

The clerk looked it over and agreed that the man was in fact over 21 and she put the Scotch in the bag. The robber then ran from the store with his loot. The cashier promptly called the police and gave the name and address of the robber that he got off the license.. They arrested the robber two hours later.
